Back To School Dental Routine

The end of summer marks the beginning of back-to-school preparations, which include establishing a new daily routine. While oral care may not seem as important for school, your child’s oral health is crucial to his or her overall health.

Dr. Tara Levesque-Vogel, Dr. Keith M. Levesque, and Dr. Adrian J. Levesque Jr. understand that back-to-school routines can be stressful and would like to offer some tips for maintaining a healthy smile.

When you’re establishing a routine for your kids, make it easy and fun for them. Every morning after breakfast and every evening before bed, prompt your child to brush his or her teeth. It won’t take long for your kids to automatically think about brushing at those times on their own.

Tricks like using a timer or singing a short song can make the process fun and efficient- and also provide a few moments to spend time together at the beginning and end of each day.

Kids learn from what they see, so if they see you brushing your teeth in the morning and evening, they’ll be more likely to do it, too. While you are helping your kids develop good habits, be sure to follow up and help them with flossing and brushing.

And don’t forget, great dental habits are complemented by regular checkups at the dentist, so be sure to make a habit of taking your kids to see the dentist every six months.

Routine oral examinations are important for everyone, and children are susceptible to the same dental concerns that adults face, including tooth decay and gum disease.

Early and regular visits can be extremely important for laying the foundation for lifelong dental health. Visiting the dentist regularly provides professional cleaning and allows our staff to teach your child how to properly brush and floss.

While you’re preparing your child to go back to school, make sure you include dental care and a visit at our Nashua, NH, family dentist office. Schedule your appointment with Levesque Dentistry today to maintain a healthy smile all year long!
