Dentures & Partials An Overview
The prompt replacement of missing teeth is important not only for the aesthetics of your smile, but to avoid complex dental health problems which begin to develop after tooth loss. This will not only impact your long term oral health but often compromises your tooth replacement choices. We offer several options for tooth replacement in our Nashua dental office including partial dentures, removable dentures, and All-on-Four® implant dentures. Using dental implants to secure an appliance such as a dental bridge or denture affords several key dental health benefits:
- Reduced bone loss in the jaw
- Secure, stable fit
- Patients can eat and speak normally
- No need for daily adhesives and concerns over slippage
Types of Dentures
There are several types of dentures that we offer in our Nashua dental office. Dr. Levesque or Dr. Vogel will assess your condition during a comprehensive exam, discuss your personal concerns and help you choose the type of denture that is right for your needs, goals and budget.
- Partial Denture: similar to a dental bridge, a partial denture replaces several missing teeth.
- Full Dentures: used to replace all of a person’s upper or lower teeth.
- Implant Dentures: permanently attached to the jaw using dental implants, implant secured dentures provide the highest rate of patient satisfaction.
Dentures & Partials What to Expect
The process for replacing missing teeth with a denture or partial denture will depend on whether dental implants are being used to permanently secure your new smile. A treatment plan will be presented after your consultation, including associated costs and the number of visits necessary to provide the best result.
If dental implants are being placed to secure a denture or bridge, the surgical phase will take place first. After a period of several months, during which the titanium post fuses with your natural jaw bone, you will return to our Nashua dentist office for dental impressions to be used in the fabrication of your custom denture or partial denture. A temporary restoration may be in place already or attached at this time.
Levesque Dentistry also offers the All-On-Four procedure for the replacement of a full arch or full mouth of missing teeth. All-On-Four uses detailed advanced planning and coordination of effort, working towards a one-day procedure where implants are placed and a denture is immediately attached.
Once your final restoration is in place, we will provide at home oral hygiene advice so that you can care for your new smile between routine dental visits. A removable denture will need daily cleaning and adhesives for a snug, comfortable fit and function. An implant secured appliance will fit and feel like your natural teeth and require daily brushing and flossing to keep clean.
