Porcelain Veneers Nashua, NH

Porcelain Veneers An Overview

If you are looking to boost the look of your smile, dental veneers may be the right treatment for you. Our dentists use porcelain veneers in a number of smile design cases to:

  • Close gaps between teeth
  • Repair chipped or broken teeth
  • Cover stained or discolored teeth
  • Improve the appearance of crooked or misshaped teeth

Porcelain veneers provide a customized smile makeover that is durable, natural-looking, and stain-resistant when compared to tooth bonding and other types of dental veneers.

Although they require a larger time and financial commitment upfront, the long-term result is worth the overall investment, and your restoration is permanent, providing many years of beautiful smiles.

Same-day dentistry saves you both time and money and allows you to avoid temporary dental veneers, which can be awkward and uncomfortable.

Lumineers

We are also a certified provider in Nashua, NH, for Lumineers, an alternative cosmetic dentistry treatment to porcelain veneers.

Lumineers are a revolutionary approach to achieving a beautiful smile. One of the most significant benefits of Lumineers is that they eliminate some of the concerns about removing healthy tooth structure.

Porcelain veneers require the dentist to remove tooth structure, but Lumineers are more like contact lenses bonded to the front teeth. Your dentist can also remove them in the future.

The Benefits of Porcelain Veneers

  1. Improved aesthetics: One of the main reasons people choose porcelain veneers is because they can dramatically improve the appearance of their teeth. Veneers can cover stains, discolored teeth, chipped or broken teeth, gaps between teeth, and misshapen teeth. With porcelain veneers, patients can achieve a brighter, more symmetrical smile that can boost their self-confidence and overall self-esteem.
  2. Natural appearance: Porcelain veneers are designed to mimic the natural look of teeth, making them virtually indistinguishable from natural teeth. The material used to make veneers is translucent, which allows light to pass through them, just like natural teeth. This ensures that the veneers blend seamlessly with the rest of the teeth, creating a natural and beautiful smile.
  3. Durability: Porcelain veneers are known for their durability and strength. When properly cared for, veneers can last many years, providing patients with a long-lasting solution for improving their smile. Veneers are resistant to stains and can withstand normal wear and tear, making them a reliable option for those looking to enhance their smile.
  4. Minimally invasive: Porcelain veneers require minimal tooth preparation, unlike other dental procedures, such as crowns or braces. In most cases, only a small amount of enamel must be removed from the front surface of the teeth to make room for the veneers. This means that the overall structure of the teeth remains intact, making veneers a less invasive option for improving the smile’s appearance.
  5. Customizable: Porcelain veneers are custom-made to fit each patient’s unique smile. Before the veneers are created, the dentist will take impressions of the patient’s teeth to ensure that the veneers are the right size, shape, and color. This customization allows patients to achieve the desired look, whether they want a Hollywood-worthy smile or a more subtle improvement.
  6. Stain-resistant: Porcelain veneers are highly resistant to stains from coffee, tea, wine, and other foods and beverages that can discolor natural teeth. This means that patients can enjoy a bright, white smile for years without worrying about their veneers becoming discolored.
  7. Easy maintenance: Caring for porcelain veneers is simple and straightforward. Patients should follow a regular oral hygiene routine of brushing twice daily, flossing daily, and visiting the dentist for regular check-ups. With proper care, porcelain veneers can last for many years, providing patients with a long-term solution for improving the aesthetics of their smile.
  8. Instant results: Unlike other dental procedures that require multiple appointments and months of treatment, porcelain veneers can provide patients with instant results. Once the veneers are created and bonded to the teeth, patients can immediately enjoy a transformed smile that looks natural and beautiful.

Porcelain Veneers What to Expect

The porcelain veneers process begins with a consultation to discuss your personal cosmetic goals and the results of your dental exam. Dr. Vogel or Dr. Levesque will work with you on an individual basis to achieve the smile you desire and to ensure that any underlying dental problems that could compromise your results are addressed.

The next step is to prepare the tooth surfaces where porcelain veneers are to be placed by removing a minimal amount of tooth structure. Dental impressions will be taken to be used in creating your veneers.

If we are using CEREC, your new veneers will be milled and placed while you wait. Otherwise, your porcelain veneers will be created in a dental lab and you will return in a couple of weeks for the final placement.

Porcelain Veneers FAQs

How long do porcelain veneers last?

Porcelain veneers will last for 10 years or more. You can maximize the longevity of your new restoration with good oral hygiene and routine dental care, where we can look for any damage that can be addressed.

What is the difference between a porcelain veneer and a porcelain crown?

A porcelain dental crown will be placed over the entire tooth, much like a cap. Porcelain veneers are custom-fit to cover only the front of the tooth.

What can you not do with porcelain veneers?

Patients with porcelain veneers should avoid eating foods that are particularly hard or chewy. These include ice, sticky foods, tough meats, toasted bread, etc. You should also avoid using your veneer tooth to open things, and cut things.

How long do veneers take from start to finish?

From your first consultation to final placement of porcelain veneers, it typically takes about 3 weeks. In the meantime while you are waiting for your permanent veneers, we will create temporary veneers as a placeholder.

Do porcelain veneers break easily?

Excessive force or pressure can damage dental veneers. However, porcelain veneers are extremely sturdy, so damage is unlikely. Veneers can withstand damage from things like chips and cracks and are just as strong as your natural teeth.
